- On 14th January Peter Gatirau Munya became the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture.
- This is after he was transferred from the Ministry of Trade and Industrialization.
- He also served in the same capacity in the ministry of East African Community and Northern Corridor Development.
- He served also as Meru County governor between 27 March 2013 – 18 August 2017
- He attended his early education at Chogoria Boys High School, and proceeded to Meru School for his ‘A’ levels.
- He also served as the Chairman of the Debating Club and a winner of the Provincial Public Speaking Competition – At Meru School
- He studied International Law (International Economic Integration Law) at University of Brussels, Belgium, on a Belgian Embassy scholarship and also went ahead to study a second master’s degree in Law (Public International Law) at University of Georgia
