Citizen TV’s top anchor is one of the key witnesses being interrogated by police after her husband Joseph Kuria Irungu, alias Joe Jowi was arrested on suspicion of being a key mastermind behind Monica Kimani’s brutal death.
Jowi who recently got engaged to Maribe in 2018 July, has been traced to the event using his phone activities moments before the death of 29 year old Monica Nyawira Kimani on 20th September 2018 at her apartment in Kilimani, Nairobi.
Her lifeless body was discovered in a bathtub with flowing water after her throat had been slit.
According to the police in Langata Police Station, they accounted that the suspect recorded a police statement noting that he had been shot by unknown assailants when he was dropping off the TV girl at Royal Park Estate, on the morning of 21st September.
Jacky on her side, she told the police that she had taken her husband to the hospital with gunshot wounds.
But the suspect’s phone activities were traced to the same house where Monica Kimani was murdered – Luciane Apartments, on Kitale Lane off Denis Pritt Road.

Details police scooped from his phone conversations shows that Jowi arranged and picked Monica from the airport, dropped her to her Kilimani Estate house after jetting in from South Sudan.
Monica Kimani’s neighbor positively identified the suspect after accounting that he had seen a man with a Kanzu leaving her house on the same day she died.
Jowi works in Dubai as a security guard. While Monica Kimani was running a family business in South Sudan. On the fateful day she died, she was supposed to travel to Dubai for a holiday vacation.
Detectives have dismissed Jowi’s story account claiming that there were no gunshots reported in the same area Jowi claims to have been shot from. Police also say that security guards manning the same area did not account for any sounds of gunshots
“We have not established the motive of the shooting. No spent cartridge was recovered at the scene but the probe is ongoing,” said an officer.
Monica Kimani who was leaving alone, was last seen on 19th September with her two friends, at the time of her death, she was living alone.
“I came to check on her since my mother had called and she wasn’t picking. I sent her a message but she never replied yet we were to meet, since,” said a relative who added that they had to break into her house when they sensed danger.
