Death has already visited Africa before the end of first month in 2019 and plucked away Jazz music veteran Oliver Mtukudzi.

Oliver died on 23rd January 2019 in evening at Avenues Clinic in Harare, Zimbabwe.

His death came a month later when he started struggling with a short illness at his home.

10 Facts You Probably Didn’t Know About Fallen Oliver Mtukudzi

  1. He was born 66 years ago on born 22 September 1952, then he was known as Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi. He was born in Harare, Zimbabwe’s capital city
  2. Before his death, his vocals had sung atleast 58 albums
  3. He mainly worked as a musician, businessman, philanthropist, human rights activist and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Southern Africa Region
  4. Tuku is believed to have been Zimbabwe’s most famous icon internationally culture of all the time
  5. His first music work was captured in 1977, when he did several songs and first album with a group in his country
  6. With his husky and electronic voice, he made it also with other groups outside his country, he worked with South Africa group named Supergroup
  7. He predominantly sings in Zimbabwe’s popular local language Shona as well as Ndebele
  8. He went large oversees performing before large audiences especially during his maiden tour in US, UK and Canada
  9. He is a father of five kids and two grandchildren, one of his son, a musician Sam Mtukudzi died in a car crash in 2010. He was born in a family of six, at the time of his death he had only three surviving siblings
  10. He had collected also, atleast 24 awards locally and internationally during his music career.
