When Azimio-OKA coalition unveiled their Presidential running mate as Martha Karua, she came back to Kenya’s limelight and Kenyans wanted to know more about her life politically and socially as well.

- Before divorce , Martha Karua was married to Dr. Njoka. But as fate will have it, they had irreconcilable differences and had to end their marriage union with a divorce
- They were blessed with two children, Wawira and Njoka.
- Martha Karua moved on and started dating Court of Appeal Judge, Justice GBM Kariuki
- However, things didn’t go on well with Justice GBM Kariuki, and they divorced in 2008
- Her divorce with Kariuki in 2008 would see Kariuki arrested and charged with murder case
- Kariuki was accused of stubbing Robert Karuri in Lower Kabete which had been caused by a scuffle resulting from an accident
- The case would later be dismissed for lack of evidence. Further the officers investigating the case said they had received pressure from then then Attoney general and minister of Justice, Martha Karua
- It was believed that Karua was trying to fight back Kariuki for dumping her.
- Kariuki sued back the state for damages incurred and he was awarded Ksh. 5 million.
- After the indicent, Karua noted that she was not interested in marriage and it wasn’t on the list of her priorities.
