Popular Vitimbi and Vioja Mahakani actor Masaku took his last breathe on earth on 29th June on Friday while receiving treatment at Mbagathi hospital in Nairobi.

Born as Charles Kimani, he died barely three years after Kenya lost another comedian Benson Wanjau, popularly known as Mzee Ojwang’ Hatari.

Both the 90’s actors were known as one of the founding fathers of  TV drama comedy pioneered on KBC TV.

10 facts you should know about Masaku

  1. Pauline Wanja his daughter confirmed that her dad had been battling with illness for the last 8 years
  2. He was admitted at Mbagathi hospital after his condition had worsened
  3. Before he had been taken to Mama Lucy Hospital
  4. During his hay days, he shared comedy stage with big heads such as Hirum Mungai (Ondiek Nyuka Quarter) Mary Kavere (Mama Kayai) and David Mwambili (Mwala).
  5. He leaves behind 3 kids, Pauline Wanja, Eunice Wanjiru and David Kagera
  6. The fallen comedian came from Ithanga, Murang’a county
  7. Masaku suffered from kidney failure, diabetes and anemia before his death
  8. In Nairobi he hailed in Kayole where he stayed with his family
  9. In 2014, Masaku excited Kenyans when he got featured on Mr and Mrs Singh series
  10. Until his death, he was a frequent guest on Inooro TV
