Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has been a key marshal in fight against the spread of corona virus aka COVID-19.

His effort and concern to info all Kenyans and the rest of the world has gained local and international accolades from many if not all.

We look at some of the most interesting facts you need to know about Mutahi Kagwe.

  1. CS Mutahi Kagwe was born 62 years ago in January 1958. He attended Kihate Primary School (1965- 1971), Kagumo High School- both O levels and A levels (1972- 1977), University of Nairobi (1978- 1981), United States International University- USIU (1988- 1992).
  2. He studied a Bachelor of Commerce (Insurance) degree from the University of Nairobi and an MBA from the United States International University.
  3. Between 2002 – 2007, he was elected to parliament and he served as the fifth Member of Parliament for Mukurweini Constituency
  4. While serving as an MP, he was a member and a Chair of Parliamentary Committee on Finance, Trade, Tourism and Planning
  5. Between 2006-2007, he served as the Cabinet Minister for Information and Communications. As the Minister of ICT, he championed the success of East African Marine System (T.E.A.M.S) – The first Fibre Optic Project for Eastern Africa as well as the launch of MPESA mobile banking
  6. He served as the first senator of Nyeri county between 28 March 2013 – 7 August 2017.
  7. As Senator, his credits include the championing of “The Best Classroom,” an Early Childhood Education program that aspires to promote the quality provision of ECDE nationwide.
  8. He is also credited with having sponsored the Cyber Security and Protection Bill in the Senate of Kenya.
  9. He was awarded with The Elder of the Golden Heart by the President Uhuru Kenyatta for his service to the nation.
  10. He became the Health CS on February 28th, 2020 upon taking oath of service on the same day
