On the 13th of March in 2021, one of the old known Kenyan music sensational teenage singer Christian Longomba succumbed to a recurring cancer.
Christian from the famous Vuta Pumzi hit makers Longombas, died at 37 years old after battling brain cancer for six years.
The sad news was confirmed by his brother Lovy.
“Christian Hulu Longomba made his transition to heaven Saturday morning in Los Angeles, California after a long-suffered illness. Christian was well-loved and we celebrated his gifts and talents that he shared with the entire world.” Stated, Lovy, now a pastor in Los Angeles.
Facts About Longomba
- Christian Longomba was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo while his brothers; Richie, Lovy and sister Elly, were born in Kenya. This is because his father had embraced music as his career and therefore he used to move from one country to another.
- Christian was married to one wife Bella Yetnayet Ketema and they begot a daughter and a son namely Elly and Prince respectively.
- Christian had been unwell since 2015 when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor and underwent his first surgery in the United States which was successful.
- About 15 years ago, with his brother Lovy aka The Longombas, they relocated to USA at a time when their music was doing well in East Africa’s industry , admitting that music wasn’t paying good as compared to today’s market
- The Longombas were better known for top hits such as Piga Makofi, Dondosa, Vuta Pumz and Shika More
- There latest hit ‘My Queen’ was released in 2010 before he fell ill.
- After his brother was confined to bed by cancer, Lovy got saved and became a pastor in USA’s Los Angeles.
- The duo come from a family well routed in music industry .
- Their father Lovy Longomba Snr was a member of the popular Congolese Lingala band Super Mazembe while their grandfather Vicky Longomba was a member of TPOK Jazz band.
- Congolese soukous legend singer Awilo Longomba is their uncle while a former member of the Deux Vulture duo, Nasty Thomas is their cousin.
