When we look at the below 10 Kenyans, who are probably not celebs, we feel so inspired and wish that 2017 could have been added with extra dates.

1.Prof. George Magoha

The former VC for University of Nairobi  has been a brain child towards the success of Fred Matiang’i sublime results.

For a man who has been hidden behind the scenes, with his success being seemingly taken off by Education CS.

Prof. Magoha who is the current chair of KNEC has overseen exams going to almost zero percent in irregularities, being released a month earlier than before and ensuring that high standards of examinations were upheld.

2.Goldalyn Kakuya

The albinic 14 year old girl from a rural school in Kakamega county scored cool 455 marks to become the top girl in 2017 KCPE results.

While many thought albinism as a disability, she thought it was just another different form of living here on earth.

Goldaly Kakuya inspired all and sundry across the nation even when it was divided along ethinic and political lines

3.George Mutwiri

George Mutwiri and James Chege

Mr. Along’o George Mutwiri is the Principal of  Lairuba Day Secondary School and together with police officer James Ngugi Chege were seen and captured on not so professional camera crossing a flooded river in an effort to deliver KCPE 2017 Exam papers to pupils who were on wait.

Education CS Fred Matiang’i personally acknowledged them and even advised the president to owner their acts of brave and inspiration.

4.KNH Surgeons

A gallant team of 58 medics from Kenyatta National hospital led by brain galleries of chief pediatric surgeon Dr. Fred Kabuni and University of Nairobi’s head of neurosurgery, Prof Nimrod Mwang’ombe  successfully separated Siamese twin in an operation that lasted for 23 hours.

It was the first of its kind in Kenya and in East Africa. KNH went ahead to foot the 105 million bill for the two year old conjoined twins.

The twins are now living a happy life after being separated.

5.Joyciline Jepkosgei

Joyciline Jepkosgei

She broke a whole 6 records in a year! Yes that is very true.

Jepkosgei clocked splits of 30:05, 45:37 and 1:01:25 to break the 10km, 15km and 20km world records on the way in just the month of April alone.

6.Mary Mokaya

Mary Njengo Mokaya

You remember the chilling story of Moi Girls Nairobi inferno, where a friend had to go back to the blazing flames to rescue her friend. It showed the true meaning of a friend indeed is a friend in need.

Mary Mokaya managed to rescue her friend. But the bravery story ended in a bad away after the Savior became a victim of her own good did. May she fly all over with the angels in heaven.

7.Patrick Kilonzo

When water sources at Tsavo West National Park began to dry of water, ‘The Water Man’ Kilonzo selflessly began driving more than 3000 gallons of water to the animals

The animals included Zebras, Buffalos, Antelopes and elephants.

He was once quoted by an international media, saying that he once found more than 500 buffaloes waiting for him.

In all that effort, Patrick got zero pay

8.Umra Omar

Umra Omar

Umra Omar left a posh job in USA, Washington DC to come and form Safari Doctors, a firm that specializes in providing medical help to ares where normal doctors won’t reach.

Those places have been termed by many as unsecured and pragmatically unreachable.

Umra Omar and her team provide basic medical services such as immunizations, maternal healthcare and treatment for various regional diseases.

All that risky process earns them Ksh.0 per month

9.Victor Muyakane

When bees at the Supreme Court attacked by-standers , every one including police manning the high profile land fled to their safety.

But their was one man who could not run as fast as his legs could carry him, he was a disabled man on a wheelchair.

KBC reporter Victor emerged victorious after he took a bold and fearless step to save the lonely man.

Were it not for his selfless acts, maybe the man would have been badly injured to death.

10.KDF

Since Kenya Defense Forces left to fight the rag tag militia group in Somalia Al Shabaab, many of them have been killed on the line of duty, but for those who are still on the war front, they have remained gallant and spirited to ensuring that our borders are secure from within and outside the country.
