Benjamin Ayimba is the current Shujaa Rugby Sevens coach. The former player, an outspoken captain and currently a coach, is a man of determination. A man who is ever multitasking; if he is not at the pitch, then he is checking on his businesses or is with his family. He has guided the national team which was dropping in the global ranking to position 13. The team recently qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics in Brazil.

Here are facts about Ayimba.

10. He was the Kenya Rugby Sevens captain in 2000, leading the team to two world cups. Argentina in 2001 and Hong Kong in 2005.

9. He was awarded Order of the Grand Worrier (OGW) award in 2009 by President Mwai Kibaki.

8. In 2013 he contested for the position of director of Kenya Rugby Union. He lost to Paul Lanco.

7 . He started playing rugby at form three in high school. Maseno school, his former school is known for rugby in the region.

6. He is an entrepreneur, in 2000 he started a partnership business of transporting fish from Lake Victoria to Nairobi. The business failed when his partner escaped with a bout sh. 490,000. He now runs other businesses.

5. He dropped from a design college of creative arts center because his parents could not pay fees. He then focused in rugby.

4. He was named the coach of the year during the 2009  Soya Sports Awards.

3. Apart from rugby, he is fan of basketball and cricket. He is a supporter of Gor Mahia FC in the Sportpesa Premier League.

2. He is married and they are blessed with three sons.

1. He is the founder and director of Ayimba Rugby School. It’s where rugby skills are taught.
