Cathrine Nyambura Ndereba is a Kenyan international marathon runner. She has won different races hence scooping many awards. She won World Champions, Olympics, Boston Marathon and Chicago Marathon.

Here are some things you should know about Ndereba.

10. She was born and raised in Gatunganga in Nyeri County. She is one one of the Kenyan athletes that out does the common stereotype that it is only in Rift Valley that the athletes are born.

9. She was awarded the Order of the Golden Worrier (OGW) by President Mwai Kibaki in 2005.

8. She is married to Antony Maina and they both live in Nairobi. They have a daughter called Jane.

7. She won the Kenyan sports woman of the year in 2004 and 2005.

6. Her debut to international races was in 1995 in Seoul, South Korea.

5. In 1998, she was named the Road Runner of the year by Runner’s World.

4. She is the first woman to win Boston Marathon four times.

3. She retired from athletics in 2014, after finishing ninth in 10,000 Kenya Prison Championship held in Nairobi. She was 41 years then.

2. She met her husband Antony while they were in college.

1. Her brother Samuel and sister Anastasia are also marathon athletes.
