McDonald Mariga Wanyama is a 29 years old Kenyan international professional footballer. He plays as a defensive midfielder. He currently plays for the national team Harambee Stars and Latina, a serie B team in Italy. He has played for different clubs in Europe.

Here are some facts about Mariga.

10. He is the first Kenyan player to play in the UEFA Champions League.He was playing for the Milan based football club FC Internazionale Milano commonly known as Inter Milan when he got the opportunity to participate in the lucrative competition.

9. He started playing for Ulinzi while he was still a student at Kamkunji High School.

8. He has played for different clubs in Kenya premier league. He has played for Tusker FC , Kenya Pipeline FC and Ulinzi FC.

7. His first international club was Enkopings SK, a third division club in Sweden.

6. He comes from a family of players. His father Noah Wanyama played for AFC Leopards, his brothers Victor Wanyama, Sylvester and Thomas are renown footballers. His only sister mercy is a basket baller.

5. He has played for different clubs in Europe such as Helsingborgs IF, Parma, Inter Milan and Latina.

4. In 2010, he failed to sign for Manchester City club due to lack of work permit. He was going to be the first East African player to play for the top clubs in English Premier League.

3. In 2011, he was the highly paid player in Kenya. He was earning $1.3 million per year.

2.In 2015, his club Parma was relegated and dissolved due to financial constrains. He went jobless before moving to Latina.

1. In 2013, he broke up with his long time fiancée Ariane Umotoni from Rwanda. His relationship life is still unclear.
