CS Matiang’i has been the epitome of an exemplar leader according to Kenyans after his vibrant actions were seen in the recent KCPE and KCSE exams.
But Kenyans don’t know so much about the current CS as he has not been in the limelight not until he was appointed the CS for Information

- Fred Okengo Matiang’I was born in Borabu, Nyamira County
- At a young age he attended the Seventh day Adventist church.
- At the Kenyatta University, where he pursued Bachelor of Arts in Education.
- After completing his undergraduate studies at enrolled at the University of Nairobi for his master’s programme and pursued, MA in English.
- Matiang’I would later enrolled for his doctorates studies in the same institution, specializing in Comparative literature.
- Matiang’I taught at Egerton and University of Nairobi.
- Before joining politics he was the Eastern Africa regional Representative for the Centre for International Development, Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy, the State University of New York.
- In 2013 he was appointed the Cabinet secretary for ICT by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
- He served as the ICT boss until 24 November 2015, when President Uhuru, in a cabinet reshuffle, appointed him as the cabinet secretary for Education.
