However, some job changes in the workplace can bring about very evident differences and damage professional relationships if you are not prepared to deal with the situation.

Therefore, if you are promoted and have to manage a sector of the company, there are some tips you should follow to avoid these problems.

See here 5 tips on how to act when you become a boss:

1. Be fair

When you take office, schedule a meeting with each person separately to resolve any pending issues, and explain clearly how you intend to manage the area, and what your plans are for the team.

2. Keep matters confidential

Show that even if you have made several friends at the company where you work, it does not mean that you will tell them everything that other employees tell you. Make it clear that you are a good professional and that you will know how to keep discretion and confidential matters.

3. Change some habits

If you used to go out with your co-workers for happy hours or chat in the company during breaks, try to avoid that attitude. Now that you are the boss, maintaining professionalism requires that some habits be abandoned so that everyone realizes that you know how to separate work from your personal life. Now you are in charge and you must make the necessary decisions to keep your area running smoothly, even having to fire someone if necessary.

4. Stay friendly

Even if you separate your job from your personal life and keep some distance from people who were once just co-workers, it doesn’t mean that you have to be blunt or rude to show firmness and authority. Stay accessible, so that they understand that your goal is just to manage your area in the company in the best way you know how, and ensure that the coexistence between you and the employees is adequate.

5. Find help

Find a professional in business management who can assist and guide you in your decisions so that you do not encounter problems during your administration at the place where you work.
