How does it feel to marry a celeb? Think of the full glare of the media, blogs and paparazzi. Everyone seems to snoop into your private life. TeamMafisi are drooling day and night as they ogle at your transformer coolant. It is definitely not easy. Kenyan celebrity couples struggle, just like ordinary marriages; sometimes even more.
As celebrities are struggling to keep their fame, they also never forget about their families. Oftentimes, it is hard to balance celebrity and family. Some celebs choose not to marry. Others marry more than one wife. The following is a sneak preview of local celebrities living together as wife and husband or were once married.
The Okaris
KTN’s beauty queen Betty Kyallo and NTV’s Denis Okari are wife and husband. Theirs is newsroom love. Have you heard that our media is now an in-breeding industry? Well, the two lovebirds got the power to do what married couples do last year October. They are always in our faces. Early this year, the two were in social media after Prezzo (Jackson Makini) did the least expected to Betty Kyallo during Friday Briefing on KTN. Okari took Prezzo by the balls and condemned the indecent behaviour of the rapper. Ivanna Okari is their adorable daughter.
Size 8 and DJ mo
This is another celebrity couple that graces our media endlessly. Samuel Muraya famously known as Deejay Mo, a gospel deejay is the man who enjoys everything Mateke hit maker Linet Muyali aka Size 8 has to offer. The Matekes are also parents. Daughter Ladasha Bella is their greatest source of happiness.
Waihiga Mwaura and Joyce Omondi
Joyce Omondi is really hot….oh my! You can’t even tell she is from the lakeside. No doubt about this. She must be having the longest list of secret admirers. She is currently married to Citizen TV’s Sports anchor Waihiga Mwaura. How do they manage public pressure? They know better. Theirs is love courtesy of media magnate SK Macharia. They must have met as the Gospel songbird prepared for Rauka Show while ‘Higz’ cut Sam Nyamweya’s sound bite.
Nameless and Wahu
They are probably the longest married celebs in recent history. They just clocked a decade the other day. The entertainment power couple David Mathenge and Wahu Kagwi celebrated their 10th anniversary in Mombasa. The two are wonderful parents of two daughters Tumiso and Nyakio. They must have been lucky to get married before bloggers became bigwigs in this country.
Linda Muthama and Nyambane
Unknown to some Kenyans, especially the xaxa generation, Walter Mong’are wears many hats. Famously known as Nyambane, now the Director of Communication Nairobi County was once Linda Muthama’s only man who made the artist sing hallelujah during wee hours of the night. After ten years of a shaky marriage, their love sublimed in 2014. It was rumoured that Linda was a gold-digger and she used Nyambane`s name to rise to fame. On her side, Linda has claimed to ‘see the light’ before dumping Redykyulass King. Nyambane zalishaad Linda and they named the girl, Laika Bosibori.
Mungatana, Mwanaisha, and Cecilia Mwangi
Former Garsen Member of Parliament Danson Mbuya Mungatana must be a man with extra balls. Or really horsepower. How do you own such two beauties on earth when a man in Kirinyaga is chopping off his manhood because every Njeri in the region has turned down his advances? Mungatana enjoys the inside out of K24’s Mwanaisha Chidzuga, and former Miss Kenya (2005), Cecilia Mwangi. How he tames descendants of Adam who thirst his wives is a story for another day.
Lulu Hassan and Rashid Abdalla
Citizen Nipashe’s Lulu Hassan is a true Lulu. The irresistible smile and mellow voice leaves every man dreaming Citizen TV. Too bad. Lulu is someone’s wife. She is married to QFM’s Rashid Abdalla. The two met in Mombasa when Lulu was working at Radio Salaam as English newsreader. They openly flaunt their love on social media especially when celebrating birthdays. For some haters, Lulu got a raw deal in terms of selection.
