Today we see how, little by little, different sectors of our country have been opening up to a daily routine –different- but which is seeking the normalization of its operations gradually.

Many families alike have already been reintegrating face-to-face work that they had been doing from home or that had been suspended because those businesses had to be closed indefinitely.

When the changes we experience alter the psychological state of the person, adaptation is very important to return to balance and stability. Stabilization is considered as the ability to adapt to changes and as a property of the human mind in relation to its environment in order to maintain emotional stability and psychological balance.

Taking all this into account, YKV gives us some tips to implement:

1. Everything is constantly changing:

let’s do an act of conscience and awareness with all family members. Although it is very good to base our security on permanence to have the illusion of living in peace, the reality is very different; everything is constantly changing only we are not aware of these until they become very evident and affect us directly.

2. Let’s avoid denying it:

Feelings such as anger, desire to protest, deny or try to ignore what is happening, can appear naturally; However, it is important to work on these attitudes as they are counterproductive and prevent us from accepting such changes and the attitude that will help us adapt to them.

3. Let’s take advantage of these circumstances to practice flexibility:

We must learn to be flexible enough to reprogram our lives and that this allows us to adapt to new circumstances. Let’s analyze as a family what has changed and what modifications we must introduce or learn to adapt to it.

4. When anxiety manifests itself in some family members

It is necessary to learn some relaxation exercises to seek to maintain calm, anticipating possible solutions as the scenarios that we have available change. For this we can practice some breathing exercises, prayer or some kind of meditation; Physical exercise is essential for all members of the family if their health allows it, since it is a natural way to eliminate stress and increase endorphins that lead us to a better state of mental and physical well-being.

5. The best way to adapt to change is to accept it as part of our way of life.

It is probable that we expected to return to the normality that we knew, but many changes do not return us to the previous state, never or, as in this case of the pandemic, not for a long time, since, although we restart the exits again, we must be responsible for take good care of ourselves and the members of our families, always using masks and distance, until a vaccine is available that we can safely access. We must accept our new situation, taking a positive attitude and assimilating our new reality.
