Renowned Kamba gospel musician Stephen Kasolo has been released from remand prison following his arrest over alleged cyberbullying. The singer was charged after fellow gospel artist Stella Mengele accused him of spewing insults at her online, leading to legal action.
Why Was Kasolo Arrested?
Kasolo’s troubles began when Mengele decided to take legal action over online insults directed at her. In an emotional TikTok livestream, she tearfully shared how the situation had affected her career and personal life. She expressed frustration over continuous online harassment and revealed that it had taken a toll on her reputation and ability to work.
“I was supposed to go to work, but I can’t. People think this is funny. Someone wakes up and just breaks you and the work you do. My reputation means a lot to my work. I have always asked, even in the police station, what I ever did to wrong you personally,” she lamented.
Despite calls from some of Kasolo’s supporters urging her to drop the charges, Mengele insisted that the law should take its course.
Kasolo’s Message After Release
Following his release, Kasolo took to social media to thank his fans for their support and prayers. He confirmed that while he was out of custody, the matter was still ongoing in court. He also urged his fans to refrain from discussing the case or making derogatory comments online.
“Dear lovely fans, this is to sincerely express profound gratitude for your immeasurable love for me. Only God can reward you. I’m out of remand prison, but the matter is still ongoing. In this regard, I urge that we all desist from commenting on it. Please, don’t insult anyone in regard to this issue. Let’s leave the matter with the honorable court. Special thanks to family and friends,” Kasolo wrote.
Additionally, he advised his followers to be mindful of their words online, emphasizing the importance of spreading kindness rather than negativity.
Kasolo’s Personal Life
The controversy surrounding Kasolo came amid speculation about his marriage to his wife, Grace, whom he wed in 2023 in a private ceremony. Rumors had surfaced that their relationship was on the rocks, but Grace recently clarified that they were still together.
As the court proceedings continue, fans and the gospel music industry will be keenly watching how Kasolo handles the situation moving forward.
