Kenyan comedian Flaqo has finally made his dream of appearing on television a reality with his new show, Kwa Kina Otis. The show, which will air on NTV every weekday at noon, features all the characters he has been playing in his viral comedy skits.
Flaqo’s Journey to TV
Flaqo took to social media to reflect on his long and challenging journey to breaking into the Kenyan acting industry. He revealed that his passion for acting began in high school, but he often landed minor roles, which made him temporarily give up on his dream.
Determined to make it, he later attempted to audition for TV roles but lacked the fare to attend auditions. This led him to create his own content, where he single-handedly played multiple characters, a move that some initially considered “embarrassing.”
The One-Man Show Success
Over time, Flaqo’s unique approach to comedy gained traction, making him one of Kenya’s most celebrated online comedians. His ability to embody different family characters, particularly the beloved Otis, earned him a loyal fan base.
His persistence has now paid off as he lands his own TV show on a major station, something he once dreamed of even if it was just a minor role.
Overcoming Personal Challenges
In a past interview, Flaqo revealed that his journey had not only been tough professionally but also personally. He once shared that an ex-girlfriend dumped him because he was a struggling artist, and he faced disrespect from partners due to financial struggles.
Now, with his career on the rise and Kwa Kina Otis making its way to TV screens, Flaqo is proving that persistence and creativity pay off.
