MC Fullstop, the renowned reggae hypeman and DJ, has set the record straight after false rumours spread online claiming he had passed away. The confusion began on April 16, 2025, when DJ Smash posted a tribute video on Facebook featuring Fullstop, which was mistakenly believed to be a tribute to him rather than to veteran broadcaster Leonard Mambo Mbotela, who passed away months ago.

The video showed Fullstop paying homage to Mbotela, a legendary figure in Kenyan broadcasting, but the caption accompanying the post read, “Rest in peace, Mzee,” which led many to mistakenly believe that the DJ had passed away. Some fans, taken aback by the news, expressed their sorrow, commenting messages like “Rest in peace, ninja,” and “The ninja is no more?”

DJ Smash quickly realised the misunderstanding and clarified the situation. He reassured followers that the video was intended as a tribute to Mbotela, and that MC Fullstop was very much alive. He posted, “Yoh, people, let’s listen to the video, please. It’s not MC Fullstop. It’s Leonard Mambo Mbotela.”

MC Fullstop himself noticed the online confusion and shared a screenshot of the post on his Instagram, expressing his bewilderment at the misunderstanding. He also addressed the situation in the comments, noting that this was not the first time such rumours had surfaced.

The 2023 challenges with his health, including a battle with tuberculosis, have made MC Fullstop a more visible figure in the public’s eye. In 2021, he revealed that he had lost full function of one of his lungs due to TB, and his condition worsened with throat TB, which affected his voice. Despite his health struggles, Fullstop remained resilient, continuing to maintain a connection with his fans and the reggae community.

Support poured in from fans, friends, and fellow DJs, who expressed their relief and wished him well. Some of them, like DJ Demakufu and VDJ Space, commented, “Take it easy, ninja” and “Long live the king,” further emphasising the love and respect the reggae icon commands within the entertainment scene.

In 2021, after a lengthy hospital stay due to pneumonia, MC Fullstop received financial assistance to cover his medical expenses, which were over KSh 500,000. His fans and well-wishers rallied behind him, offering support and ensuring his treatment continued without financial worries.

Despite these health battles, MC Fullstop’s vibrant personality and dedication to his craft have kept him an influential figure in the entertainment world. He is grateful for the support from his fans and continues to reassure them that he is, in fact, alive and well, dismissing the recent death rumours with a message of resilience and gratitude.
