American streaming sensation IShowSpeed has been making waves in Kenya since arriving on Sunday, January 11. From school visits to wildlife encounters, the YouTuber’s activities have dominated both social media and mainstream news. However, not all coverage has pleased local creators.

Digital creator and director Trevor, who manages Bradley Marongo, also known as Gen Z Goliath, publicly criticized Citizen TV for excluding his client from the broadcaster’s report on IShowSpeed’s first day in Nairobi. Bradley’s interaction with IShowSpeed at a basketball court quickly went viral online, yet it was absent from the station’s 9 pm news bulletin.

In his social media post, Trevor expressed disappointment over the omission, questioning whether Bradley’s role in the day’s events was considered insignificant. “It’s okay, Citizen TV. So Gen Z Goliath was not a major part of IShowSpeed’s Kenyan tour stream? It’s okay, no problem. One day, you’ll ask for an exclusive. Ni sawa,” he wrote.

Citizen TV’s coverage focused on other highlights of Speed’s visit, including throwing a javelin with Olympic champion Julius Yego at Upper Hill School, playing rugby with students, cooking ugali, and touring Nairobi National Park. While these moments captured the scale of the streamer’s tour, Trevor felt that excluding Bradley overlooked one of the most talked-about viral moments.

The post sparked discussions online, with some supporting Trevor’s claim that mainstream media often misses out on viral digital creators, while others defended Citizen TV’s editorial decisions, arguing that news segments cannot cover every popular social media moment.

Trevor’s criticism underscores the growing influence of digital content creators like Gen Z Goliath and raises questions about how traditional media integrates viral online moments into mainstream reporting.
