Former Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale on 19th February 2018 escaped unhurt after his car he was using together with his wife in Nairobi was hit by a careless driver.

Boni Khalwale though the driver had malicious thoughts before hitting his car from behind.
Khalwale came second behind Wycliffe Oparanya in race for Kakamega governors seat. He looks to win by landslide in the next elections bearing in mind that his close rival Oparanya would have exhausted his chances already.
