Dr. Duncan Omanga has won Ksh.5 million from Facebook Research Award after his application to study on how Nairobians are using Facebook was accepted beating many across the globe.
The award comes after Facebook launched the Facebook Protect and Care Research projects aimed at improving the usefulness of the largest social network in the world.
Dr. Omanga serves as the head of department , Publishing and Media Studies , School of Information Science Studies at Moi University.
He is also set to visit Menlo Park, California which houses the giant firm.
His research in Nairobi slums would try to establish on how users employ Facebook app in combating crime related cases.
