On Monday 10th September, 2018, Tanzanian female MPs with fake eyelashes and fake fingernails were banned from accessing their national assembly aka parliament.

“With the powers vested in me by the Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania, I now ban all MPs with false eyelashes and false finger nails from stepping into Parliament,” Tanzanian Speaker of Parliament Job Ndugai declared.

He also added that he was in consultation with top experts to decide on whether to ban those MPs who use Make-ups excessively.

The legislative house had been informed that the use of fake fingernails and eye lashes could cause health complications which costed their country dearly.

The submissions had come fro Deputy Minister for Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children, Dr Faustine Ndugulile.

Dr.Ndugulile also stated that Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) had received more than 700 patients with complications related to skin bleaching, fake fingernails and fake eye-lashes on an average of every year.

The debate had been raised by Ms Fatuma Toufiq  who wanted to know number of victims who have been affected by fake eyelashes and fake fingernails
