On Monday morning Nairobi commuters were forced to walk to their places of work or part with overpriced fares following the taking effect of Michuki Rules
The few PSV’s which were available were charging double or triple the fare after most of Matatu’s made good of their treat to remove their services
For instance, Commuters from Dolhom to CBD would pay sh.50 but were being asked to pay sh.100 while those from Pipeline to CBD paid sh.200 instead of sh.100.
Commuters from Pangani were paying sh.80 as opposed to the normal sh.20 on a distance of about 5Kms
Those travelling from Githurai were paying sh.250 while those from Kasarani paid sh.200 to town CBD.
Other matatu stages had no single vehicle during the early morning rush hour.
There were also fears that the situation could get worse
