10 Interesting Facts You Should Know About 2019 Wings To Fly Scholarship

Equity Bank Foundation master project Wings To Fly held their welcoming ceremony for those KCPE and KCSE students who passed well their exams and qualified for the school funding program.

On January 4th 2019, the day was special for the Members and new recruits.

Here are some interesting facts about the program for you.

  1. The Wings To Fly scholarship includes: financial support in the form of tuition fees, books, accommodation, uniform, shopping, pocket money and transport to and from school.
  2. In 2018 KCSE results, 13 students among other 315 under this program scored As
  3. In 2019, KCPE top students, 1000, who made it to the program were awarded with full sponsored scholarships thanks to The MasterCard Foundation & Equity Group Foundation program
  4. The colourful event happened at Kenyatta University, Thika Road
  5. This was the 10th award ceremony in their calendar.
  6. The 2019 intake saw total number of those students who have been admitted to the program total to 16,168
  7. So far, four cohorts of Wings to Fly students totaling 8,144 scholars have gone through secondary school with a 96% completion rate
  8. Out of these, 84% of the students (6,641) have attained university entry qualifications grades
  9. Wings to Fly program also seeks to develop the next generation of leaders through coaching, mentoring and social transformational programs
  10. During the application period, application forms are availed at all Equity Bank Branches and Equity Agents for interested candidates. The forms can also be downloaded from the Equity Group Foundation’s website, Youth Village Kenya always provides the links when they are made public
  11. In 2018, Equity Group Foundation (EGF) received nearly 20,000 applications from needy students who sat for their KCPE examinations last year.
  12. The #WingstoFly programme is run by Equity Group Foundation and MasterCard Foundation with additional funding support from USAID, UKAid, KfW, Equity Bank, individuals and institutions under the Wings to Fly programme
  13. The Wings to Fly scholars are eligible for Equity Bank’s paid pre-university internship program (Equity Leadership Program -ELP) if they attain an A grade in their KCSE
