A Kenyan beggar in United Kingdom has asked for help from government to help him return home.
Dan Mutungi from Machakos county, who leaves in the streets of Luton, has been in UK since 1992.
Bancy Wairimu Mbui, a Kenyan who filmed his plight, advised him to go back to Kenya to end his miserable life in UK.
Mutungi says that he lost his passport.
On 16th December 2016, local paper in UK Luton Today reported that the man was fined after the court find him guilty of begging. He was charged a fine of £165 (Sh21,381)
“Daniel Mutungi of Noah’s Enterprise in Park Street, was caught begging for alms in a passageway in George Street, Luton on July 12. He was charged partly under the 1824 Vagrancy Act. He must pay £50 plus £85 court costs and £30 victim services charge after being found guilty in his absence at Luton Magistrates on December 6,” the article read in part.
Mutungi who begged for £10 (Sh1,295) from Bancy, explained that his mother died while his dad lives in Machakos county.
The lady instead of offering him money or any kind of help, directed him to government officials for much needed help.
