Most Kenyan colleges and universities aim at excellence. This makes competition stiffer among institutions. In the world of business, a cutthroat showdown between business schools does exist. These business schools now play a major role of preparing business practitioners, including managers, accountants, and financial controllers among other talents. So, which are the leading trainers? This article reviews top 10 business schools in Kenya:

Strathmore Business School-SBS

  1. The University of Nairobi School of Business

Besides the University of Nairobi being the best in Kenya, the institution is also home to the best business school in the country. Ranked 4th in Africa, UoN’s Business School, is at Lower Kabete Campus, about 14km from the CBD. Established in 1964, the school offers Bachelor of Commerce degree, MBA degree, D.litt (commerce), PhD in Business Administration) programs. Its major departments are finance and accounting, Business Administration and Management Science.

  1. The United States International University

This is the 5th best business university in Africa. Being the oldest private university in East Africa, it provides abroad based education. USIU School of Business has a range of undergraduate programs, graduate programs, CEED certificate programs, and Goldman Sachs Program.

  1. KCA University

It is a Kenyan flagship university which offers a global approach to business education and research while focusing on local perspectives and expertise. Located in Ruaraka Nairobi, along Thika Super Highway, KCA University has built a reputation as comprehensive business university that uses innovation to enhance learning. The collage was established in 1989 as a collage of accountancy and later renamed as KCA University. The vice Chancellor is Prof. Noah Midamba.

  1. Strathmore Business School-SBS

Located in Nairobi, Strathmore University has over 5,000 students. It has repute in offering world-class business courses. Strathmore Business School offers an array of programs including MBA degree.

  1. Catholic University of Eastern Africa -Faculty of Commerce

The faculty was started in 1991 as a course in the faculty of art and science but later inaugurated in 2002. The faculty equips learners with modern business managerial skills that are necessary to solve organisational monetary problems. The university offers undergraduate and post graduate programs in business.

  1. Kenya Institute of Management-KIM

Located in Nairobi, KIM is committed to promoting excellence and integrity in practise of management. Established in 1954, the school is among the oldest colleges offering management training in Kenya. It was created as a Kenyan chapter of the British Institute of Management.

  1. Kenya School of Monetary Studies

Established in 1997, the Kenya School of Monetary Studies plays major role of capacity building. It also improves professionalism in business thus ensuring quality banking practices. Kenya School of Monitory Studies is controlled by the Central Bank of Kenya. It trains high calibre economists, bankers and financial experts. Located off Thika Highway along Mathare road, KSMS collaborates with Moi and Jomo Kenyatta universities to offer master’s in business.

  1. Nairobi Institute of Business Studies-NIBS

The private institution offers a variety of courses in business. The business courses enhance professionalism in the learners. NIBS is located along Ronald Ngala Street Nairobi. If offers diploma and advanced diploma in business. Established in 1999, NIBS targets K.C.S.E Holders, university graduates and employees who intend to improve their professional skills.

  1. Moi University School of Business and Economics

The school of business offers a variety of undergraduate and post graduate courses in business and economics. It also offers executive master of business administration and masters in philosophy in economics.

  1. Kenyatta University School of Business

Kenyatta University is the second ranked university in Kenya. Its Business School offers diploma, Degree, Masters and PhD programs. Currently, at KU, can pursue a course in Programmes currently on offer are Bachelor of Commerce with areas of specialization in Accounting, Finance, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Management Science, Actuarial Science, and Procurement and Supply Chain Management.
