After every round of Premier League matches, we bring to you the best 11 players from the weekend in our Premier League Team of the week feature. Next up, we take a look at Premier League team of the week for Game week 35.
Premier League Gameweek 35 was crucial in answering the season long debate of who will win the league title this season. With Tottenham slipping-up vs. West Brom, and Leicester winning 4-0 against Swansea, The Foxes are now ever so closer to lifting the trophy.
Among weekend’s top performers, we witnessed Eden Hazard finally end his 29-game Premier League goal drought while his chief creator from last season Cesc Fabregas registered 3 assists to his name.
Defense: Vito Mannone kept out Arsenal’s relatively close chances and earned a vital point for his team. Sunderland are out of the bottom 3 for now and it was down to a great performance from Mannone and his central defenders.
Younes Kaboul and Lamine Kone partnership has been impressive in recent weeks and they were once again very impressive against Arsenal. Elsewhere Leicester had a great result and their full-backs Danny Simpson and Christian Fuchs make it to our Premier League Team of the Week for Gameweek 35.
Midfield: Cesc Fabregas had a day to remember as all of his assists were world class and it gave a new dimension to Chelsea’s play going forward. Him picking out defense-threading passes makes the role of Chelsea forwards all the more easy.
Dusan Tadic has been one of Southampton’s most consistent players this season and he was on the score sheet yet again as Saints disposed the relegated Aston Villa side 4-2. Georginio Wijnaldum finds a place in our Premier League Team of the Week for Gameweek 35 despite only playing the second half vs. Liverpool.
Such was his impact on the game that he deserves to be mentioned here. The moment he came on for Ayoze Perez, Newcastle looked a different team. They had the hunger going forward and more importantly had some intelligence on the ball. He led his team to a well fought 2-2 draw which could potentially be a huge point in this season’s relegation battle.
Attack: Riyad Mahrez was named PFA player of the year on Sunday night after he had given one of his best performances this season in a 4-0 win over Swansea. He needed to raise his game in Jamie Vardy’s absence and so he did.
Another Leicester player who needed to step up during the weekend was Leonardo Ulloa. He was the striker asked to replace Vardy and he came up trumps. Ulloa scored two goals and brought Leicester within a win from being crowned as Champions.
Eden Hazard completes our Premier League Team of the Week for Gameweek 35 after the Belgian forward finally found back of the net. Throughout the season, he had fired blank but against Bournemouth, he managed to score twice. Chelsea would hope this to be a turnaround for Hazard and he becomes a big player for them next season.
