A photo of David Rudisha, Olympic champion and world record holder in 800 metres, clad in police uniform has gone viral on social media.

Rudisha won three records consecutively and the IAAF world athlete of the year award in 2010.

Kenyans accustomed to seeing him in sporting gear were surprised at the sight of him on duty. They have shared his picture on all social media platforms.

“Many are used to seeing me on running outfits, but this is the other look outside the track! Proud Police Officer. ‪#‎Loveyourjob,

One Facebook, one Savio Tavares, had words of praise for the international athletics icon. He wrote:

“David I am Kenyan living in Toronto. My son idolises you and is constantly reviewing your races to learn strategy and style. He is 12 and has just started running 800 and 1500. You make us Proud!”

Another Facebook user, Macduff Okuom wrote:

“One of the few cops that EARNED their millions by the old fashion way-working for it. David Rudisha, tonnes of respect for your humility to keep your job in spite of the money you made in athletics.” while Victor Kamau opined: “Y get held up in the police force na uko na pesa?..u shud have started UA own businesses n create employment for a lot pple!!!”
