Comedienne Dem wa Facebook has finally broken her silence on what led to her separation from media personality and content creator Oga Obinna. The two worked together for seven months, building one of the most popular comedy partnerships in Kenya before parting ways without explanation.
Their chemistry on screen made many believe they were more than colleagues. At one point, Obinna gifted Dem wa Facebook a new car, fueling speculation about their relationship. Both maintained that their connection was purely professional, but fans remained curious about what caused the split.
In a recent interview with Alex Mwakideu, Dem wa Facebook shared her side of the story, revealing that the end of their working relationship came as a surprise. “I have never understood what happened. I was not told anything. Things just went silent. I did not know why the show ended,” she said.
She explained that they used to record every Monday, with Obinna’s assistant handling communication and scheduling. “Before every recording, his PA would message me about the plans. One Monday, the message never came. I waited, but no one called. I just assumed the contract ended, and he wanted to work with others,” she added.
The sudden silence left her confused and emotionally affected. “That Monday disturbed me mentally. I kept asking myself what had happened. If the show ended, they should have called to tell me I had been let go. The first week passed, then the second. I decided to focus on building myself instead,” she said.
Despite the abrupt ending, Dem wa Facebook made it clear that there is no bad blood between them. She said they no longer talk often, as both are busy with new projects.
The comedian admitted that the experience was painful but taught her resilience. She took time to heal and redirect her energy toward independent content creation. “They say when you feel stressed, take time to heal. That is what I did,” she explained.
Social media users expressed mixed reactions to her story. Some sympathized with her, saying she deserved clear communication. Others felt it was a normal part of creative partnerships ending. One commenter wrote, “Obinna angemshow tu contracts imeisha ndio ajipange,” while another added, “Her voice is shaking, so it is deeper than we know.”
When asked about claims that Dem wa Facebook helped build his brand, Obinna previously clarified that their collaboration benefited both parties. He said he had been creating content long before they started working together, but their chemistry made their projects more successful.
Dem wa Facebook’s openness about the split has earned her renewed support from fans who appreciate her honesty. Her story sheds light on the emotional toll creative breakups can have, even when they happen quietly.
Despite the setback, she continues to build her brand independently, proving that determination and talent can thrive beyond partnerships.
