DRC’s plan for coalition government took a major boost when
DRC President Felix Tshisekedi and his predecessor Joseph Kabila held talks over a possible merge.
Joseph Kabila’s party Common Front for Congo [FCC] holds the majority number of members [342 out of 485 seats] in the national assembly; this has negatively affected President Tshisekedi who has not been able to push through his favoured Prime Minister from his political party.
His party CACH has only 50 reps, has been forced to merge with Kabila’s FCC
“The president that I am will not accept being a president who reigns but doesn’t govern.” said Mr. Tshisekedi.
The joint statement also noted that it wished to put more power on the historic peaceful transition of power witnessed in January 2019
