Police in Canada implemented a new device for detecting and fining the drivers who use the mobile phones while behind the wheel of their cars .

According to the CBC News website ,Canadian Police began using professional photographic equipment to detect and fine motorists who use their smartphones while driving, all within 1.2 kilometers .

It is a 24.2-megapixel DSLR camera with a 50-millimeter lens attached, via an adapter, to a telescope, which allows the police to stand at a considerable distance to photograph infringers without realizing it.

“It does not make sense to be where the drivers can see us. We will be where our presence is not necessarily noticed and we will point the telescope at the windshield of the vehicle, so that, when it stops at a traffic light or a stop sign, we can look inside, “a policeman told a local radio program.

In Kenya , as in many countries around the world, it is illegal to look , talk or write on a mobile phone while driving or at a traffic light for decades.

The Police expects the new device to detect and fining the drivers offenders to function as a drive to tackle road accidents in the country.
