Famous political man nicknamed ‘Githeri man’ has checked into a rehab in Kiambu county after a directive from President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Born Martin Kamotho Njenga, he was a famous figure during the 2017 election period after he was pictured enjoying his local githeri dish in a paper bag.
But as fate may have it, he was swept away by alcohol addiction, despite receiving a prestigious presidential award and recognition.
Kiambu Woman Representative Gathoni Wamuchomba says that Githeri Man had contacted Uhuru Kenyatta’s aides at Jakaranda Grounds over his current bad state with alcohol.
Yesterday I got instructions from statehouse to ensure that I find the whereabouts of Githeriman and admit him to our rehab Mamacare addiction and recovery center after he contacted the President through his team at Jacaranda grounds narrating his addiction to alcohol and desire to find a new lease of life.
Today I embarked on a mission to trace him from his rural home in Kiambururu in Githunguri traced his relatives who helped located him in Kayole. Mamacare team comprising of a coounsellor and a pastor we visited him in Kayole.
Without any resistance as he had made his mind up he joins us at Mamacare addiction and recovery center for the next 3 months.
I thank HE the President for taking interest in a such a humble man and finding solution. I pray that his stay at the rehab will give him a chance to gain sobriety and rediscover his purpose in life.

Mr.Njenga will spend three months in rehab to try and recollect his status.
After becoming famous, he won generous trips, tips, gifts and above all a Head of State Commendation during 2017 Jamhuri Day celebrations.
