The famous gospel artiste Alex Apoko popularly known as Ringtone shocked his fans by announcing via social media that he has quit his music career. What a new year’s resolution! The gospel artiste who is one of the musicians that has risen to fame and riches through music despite his very humble background that had forced him to become a street urchin in Mombasa has decided to venture into something new which he has not yet shared with his fans.
The ‘Pamela’, ‘Talanta’ and ‘Muziki ni Dawa’ singer, Ringtone posted in his instagram page, and I quote:
“It’s been a long journey of success from nothing to the top. I have enjoyed every moment of my career and now finally I have decided to quit the music. Thank you all those who supported me. Thank you for the moments”.
Ringtone has become the first musician to quit music in 2016 following the ‘Dunia Mbaya’ singer Lilian Auma popularly known as princess Jully who quit music last year to mine gold at her rural home in Migori County due to being broke. Unlike Princess Jully, Ringtone did not give a reason to this New Year’s resolution but we just hope that he has better plans for his career-to be and we can only wish him the very best.
