Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has once again demonstrated her unshakable resolve when faced with criticism from online users. Known for her outspoken personality, the politician responded firmly after a social media user accused her of prioritising entertainment over her senatorial duties.
The incident unfolded after Nyamu shared a light-hearted video on her Instagram account. In the clip, she mimicked controversial preacher Pastor James Ng’ang’a, recreating a moment where the pastor appeared to slap a congregant for dozing off in church. Sitting at her office desk, Nyamu gestured humorously and mirrored the preacher’s tone, describing him as a source of comic relief while also sympathising with the victim in the viral church incident.
However, the video did not sit well with one user, who sarcastically suggested she focus on “consuming citizens’ taxes” instead of creating content. In response, Nyamu swiftly hit back, stating that she could not be distracted and that taxes were indeed her priority.
This latest exchange adds to a series of instances where Nyamu has stood her ground against online criticism. The mother of three has maintained that she remains focused on her political work while also sharing aspects of her personality with the public through social media.
In a previous incident, Nyamu addressed claims that her political rise was due to her physical appearance. Rather than refuting the remarks, she leaned into the comment, cheekily crediting her body for her achievements and expressing gratitude for it.
Despite the backlash she occasionally faces, Nyamu continues to assert her presence both in politics and the digital space, where she frequently engages her audience with humour and candour.
