Ken Rel Bis, a popular host on KBC’s youth show Y254, has taken a significant step in supporting African musicians with the official launch of Interfine Music, a digital distribution platform designed to put power back into the hands of artists.
In an exclusive interview, the media personality shared that the platform is built with one key principle — giving artistes full control over their music. Interfine Music allows creators to retain 100% ownership of their copyrights while offering free sign-up, removing the financial barriers that often prevent many from accessing global music platforms.
Rel Bis noted that many local musicians have been using do-it-yourself platforms that lack human support, often leading to confusion around royalties and earnings. “Interfine Music is more than just distribution. We provide real human support to help artistes understand how to collect royalties and benefit from digital revenue,” he said.
What sets Interfine Music apart is not just its accessibility, but also its commitment to transparency and artist empowerment. According to Rel Bis, the goal is to create a system where African artists can thrive without exploitation, and where their art can reach global audiences without losing ownership or revenue.
“With Interfine, artistes don’t need to worry about high distribution costs or hidden fees. We want creatives to focus on their talent, not paperwork or percentages,” he explained.
Rel Bis also highlighted the importance of digital presence in today’s music industry. “The world is digital. If your music isn’t on streaming platforms, you’re missing out. Music distribution is now one of the biggest income streams for musicians,” he added.
Interfine Music was created with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by African creatives — from limited access to proper guidance, to difficulties in tracking earnings. With this platform, Ken Rel Bis hopes to bridge the gap between talent and opportunity, creating a more level playing field for both upcoming and established artistes.
Rel Bis’ journey to this achievement has been nothing short of inspiring. After dropping out of school in Form Two and relocating to Nairobi in 2017, he experienced homelessness before being helped by a Good Samaritan in Kahawa West. He later found his break on Y254, rising from a volunteer to one of the show’s most recognizable faces.
Through Interfine Music, Ken Rel Bis is now extending that same spirit of opportunity to countless musicians across Africa, determined to help them build sustainable careers on their own terms.
