Kenyan Short Film Based On Mandera Bus Terror Attack Nominated For Oscar Awards

A Kenyan film based on a true story that occurred on December 21st of 2015 has been nominated for the 90th Oscar Awards under the category of Best Live Action Film

The announcement came on yesterday moments before the premier of the film dubbed ”Watu Wote” loosely translated as ”All of Us in Nairobi.

The film was a project for a German student, and its award would have to wait until March 4th.

The film had also been nominated for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences so as to compete with other five short films.

Some of the major awards it has so far won include Gold Student Awards among other 35 other film festivals.

The film looks at how terrorism has taken advantage of the Christians and Muslims discrimination factor in Kenya. It had been prolonged for so long until the insurgent of the terror attack from Al-Shabaab.

The film shows how Muslims and Christians in the bus join hands to fight a common enemy, with Muslims playing a lead role of protecting Christians and helping them camouflage as Muslims.
