Politics and leadership is mostly associated with age and experience, but these young Kenyans barely 35 years old have shaken off this belief and are rewriting Kenyan history in new books.
We take a look at some of the youngest politicians and public officers in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government since the 2017 general elections .
Governor Stephen Sang, 35 Years
He first came into government when he was barely 30 years old.
Governor sang served as a Senator for Nandi county when he was barely 30 years old and went ahead to become the youngest governor at just 32 years old in 2017.
MP Babu Owino – 35 Years
Mp Babu Owino aka Paul Ongili is the current MP for Embakasi East, Nairobi county.
The ODM MP has been a key politician behind ODM leader Raila Odinga , and in todays politics, he is rather seen as a future president of Kenya
Aaron Cheruiyot, 35 Years
He became the Kericho County Senator at just 33 years old, and no doubt he is among the youngest top most politicians in Kenya.
CAS Dr. Mercy Mwangangi- 34 Years old
Health Chief Administrative Secretary Dr. Mercy Mwangangi took to social media to celebrate her birthday on 28th August 2020.
It is no doubt the less popular CAS became a household name after Corona happened and no doubt she is enjoying her publicity.
CAS Mercy would also mesmerize Kenyans with her stunning beauty which left many men glued on TV screens as they watched COVID-19 news unfold.
It turns out, CAS Mwangangi is not so old and she among the youths in President Uhuru’s government
CAS Mercy was born 34 years ago in 1986!
Senator Kiprotich Cherargey- 33 Years
He was elected in 2017 as the Nandi senator at just 30 years old alongside with his Governor sang at just 32 years old.
Seems the Nandi people took leadership mantle to the young and fresh blood

The daughter to Deputy President William Ruto, serves one of the top diplomatic role in Kenya’s foreign affairs.

Cynthia Suge- 27 Years
In 2017 , Kilibwoni ward representative Cynthia Suge, 24, who became the youngest MCA in the country after the general elections
Grace Sundukwa – 27 Years
During election, she was aged 24 years
She serves as the Member of County Assembly (MCA), Sitikho ward, Webuye West Constituency, Bungoma County.
Simon Muturi – 27 Years
Simon was elected as the MCA for Muruguru-Gatitu Ward, Nyeri County
He was 24 years then
MP John Paul- 26 Years Old
When John Paul was elected as the MP for Igembe South, he was barely 23 years old.
He brought down big political big heads.
MP Paul is the youngest MP in Kenya’s history, as well as top most senior government official to serve at such a tender age.
