Nyambane was speaking at the Kisii Teaching and referral hospital where he revealed that his daughter Mercy, had asked for KSh 45,000 prior to the trip and the accident that happened.
Nyambane told SDE that he was to send the money to his daughter on that fateful Friday and was waiting for the call to send the money to her.He was roused from his home by a call at around 8pm on Friday, July 1, with information that his daughter was involved in the tragic Kisii accident of the previous night.
He rushed to the scene and found his daughter being carried on a gurney and onto the waiting ambulance that took her to the hospital.
Nyambane learnt later that his wife, Grace Moraa was aware of their daughter’s plan to travel to Kisii for the graduation bash that never was.
He went on to say that he has since forgiven his daughter because she had already learnt from the folly of her mistakes.
The Varsity students had left Nairobi to attend a friend’s graduation party at Magena, about 30 kilometres from Kisii town. The only recollection from the girl who survived the crash is that they changed a driver in Kisii town right before the fatal crash.
