Many Kenyans have been falling prey to witchdoctors who claim to have the ability to cure any kind of sickness, infertility problems, help in finding lost lovers and what have you.

Mganga

But to imagine that a person, an intelligent one for that matter, would fall for their trickery in this day and age is dumbfounding to say the least.

A middle age man from Kisumu is living in depression after losing millions of shillings to cunning witchdoctors.

Robert Otieno Marete, a former banker, sold his house and took the proceeds of Sh5 million to witchdoctors to be multiplied.

The man was directed to buy a fridge in which the money would be placed as the witchdoctors continued with spiritual prayers presumably to multiply the money.

He was told to open the fridge after a week and that is when he would find his money.

Marete only realized he had been conned when the money was not forthcoming after waiting for more than a week and it is then that he decided to seek the help of the police.

The witchdoctors who are believed to be six in number managed to get away when flying squad officers raided the house in Tom Mboya Estate, where they plied their trade.

Sh4 million was recovered during the bust operation with the witchdoctors, who are believed to have come from Tanzania, escaping with an estimated Sh1 million.
