Renowned radio host and comedian MC Jimmie Kajim has announced his exit from Radio Africa Group, ending a remarkable career that began when he joined the company at just 22 years old. Kajim hosted his last show on Gukena FM on Friday, October 31, leaving fans emotional and reflecting on his journey in the media industry.
In a heartfelt farewell post on social media, Kajim expressed gratitude to Radio Africa Group CEO Patrick Quarcoo for giving him the opportunity to co-host one of Kenya’s biggest breakfast shows. “I joined Radio Africa Group at the age of 22. I was passionate and full of dreams. I’ll forever be grateful to CEO Patrick Quarcoo, who believed in me and trusted me with one of the biggest opportunities of my life — becoming the youngest radio co-host on the Breakfast Show,” he wrote.
Kajim also acknowledged the mentors who shaped his career. He credited Bishop Ben for introducing him to the media industry and giving him his first on-air experience at Kameme FM. He recalled co-hosting Centro Comedy on Inooro TV and joining Gukena FM through the recommendation of veteran broadcaster Njogu wa Njoroge. He described longtime co-host Njoki wa Mburu as both a mentor and a big sister, saying, “Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that one day she would not only become my mentor but also my co-host.”
Beyond his professional mentors, Kajim expressed appreciation for his personal support system, particularly his wife, Wambui Kajim, whom he described as his greatest supporter. He also thanked other influential figures, including Ndindi Nyoro and Elder Steve, for their guidance throughout his career. Kajim reflected on the growth of his career with gratitude, emphasizing the opportunities and lessons he gained over nearly a decade in broadcasting.
Looking ahead, Kajim revealed that he plans to focus on expanding Kajim Events Ltd, an events and production company that grew out of his earlier initiative, the Kajim Talent Hub. “As Ecclesiastes reminds us, ‘To everything there is a season.’ There’s a time to be employed, and a time to step out in faith toward new dreams. It’s time to go to the next level,” he wrote. He reassured his fans that this farewell marks a new beginning rather than an end.
Kajim promised his audience more content and projects, including the continuation of his 1on1 with Kajim Podcast. “To my online family, get ready for even more amazing content. To my fans of the 1on1 with Kajim Podcast, stay tuned — the best is yet to come,” he concluded. His departure from Radio Africa Group marks the end of one chapter and the start of another in his flourishing career as a media personality and entrepreneur.
