• Research news materials and fact-checking of data.
• Edit video news stories from time to time.
• Update stories as they unfold and new information becomes available.
• A trained journalist.
Digital Content Creator Internship
RECITALS
The candidate should be able to supervise the duties assigned by the manager to all the social media officers. Assist the manager in daily execution of duties and prepares daily reports for archiving purposes. The individual must be very professional with digital media experience. Will time to time stand-in for editors, video editors and social media officers.
Qualifications
- University Graduate in Communication or another related field from a recognized University.
- Must have knowledge of computer studies.
- At least 1-year experience in a reputable newsroom.
- Must have a good command of English and Kiswahili;
- Must have strong writing & editing skills;
- Must be analytical;
- Understand Media Laws & Media Ethics;
- Must be self-driven, assertive, punctual & organized;
- Must have a nose for news, widely knowledgeable & pay attention to detail;
- The ideal candidate must have a working knowledge of online technology and online news best practices and an appreciation of the business processes, protocols and controls;
- Demonstrate a professional approach and appearance including enthusiasm, drive, commitment, honesty, trust and loyalty; and
- Keep abreast of evolving trends through continuing professional education in the area of digital platforms.
Crowd Sourcing Story Ideas
Use the different news sources to develop story ideas for the news of the day and for future use in the development of feature stories, documentaries and any content relevant for TV47. Use the gathered information, in collaboration with editors, other journalists, and reporters to generate story ideas to post on social media or report on the TV website and Applications. Will be required to then write detailed stories or scripts to update the website or post online.
Interview Guests
Will organize, in collaboration with immediate supervisor and invite guests to speak about a topic or news event.
Will be required to come up with interview questions to ask these guests and carry out effective interviews to successfully gather the necessary information from the guest(s)
Research and Write News
Will be required, along with using the information gathered from interviews, conduct extensive research on the topics and events prior to posting them online.
Report Stories online
Go live online to share the day’s news from pre-written scripts.
Offer commentary on stories and interact with anchors and reporters during the news program.
Participate in Social Media Sites
In addition to reporting stories on the website and apps, will be required to also engage with viewers on social media sites, such as Facebook and Twitter, Instagram. They post updates, images, and videos of breaking news events for viewers and sometimes post full news reports as well in consultation with direct supervisor
Additional Particular Terms and Conditions:
- Ownership of copyright and broadcast rights of the content generated by the employee during the lifetime of this agreement shall belong to the employer. This includes concepts. The employer reserves the right to use the above-mentioned work as it sees fit.
- The employee agrees to conduct themselves lawfully and morally within the stipulated laws that govern the republic of Kenya. Violating this part of the agreement may lead to immediate termination of this agreement
- No-compete- the employee agrees that he/she will not work in whatever format and for a competing station for the duration of this agreement
Video Production Intern
We’re looking for a video production intern to support the activities of our production team. You will work with the producer and learn how to prepare production paperwork, plan for logistics, plan and work on show concepts
Requirements
- Should have a desire and passion to gain professional experience.
- Must be eager to learn.
- Must have oral and written communication skills.
- Must have the ability to follow directions, as well as not be afraid to ask questions.
- Must be a fast learner, committed, able to follow instructions, work quickly and accurately under pressure.
- Must be keen to learn about the markets in which the company operates.
- The internship runs for three months with the possibility of extension Video editing skills are an added asset.
