Kevin Oduor Owiti has taken the world by storm.
The former Mr Catholic University of East Africa and reigning Mr World Kenya represented the country in the just-concluded Mr. World event held in Southport, England on July 19, and emerged the third runner up to the title.
He first burst onto the modelling scene in 2014, when he emerged the victor of his university’s pageant. This prompted him to take part in subsequent events, and he quickly racked up Mr. World Kenya Siaya.
County and Mr. World Kenya titles. When the opportunity to fly the Kenyan flag came by, Kevin was honoured to do so.
In a competition that saw four other contenders from Africa take part, Mr. Owiti’s achievement is no mean feat. He came fourth, after India’s Rohit Khandelwal (winner,) Puerto Rico’s Fernando Alvarez and Mexico’s Aldo Esparza Ramirez.
As he travels back to the country, the 21 year old Business Management student can take pride in the knowledge that he has done his country proud, considering the scarcity in the past of representatives at the highest level. Already, as congratulations pour in, he is being called the most desirable man on the continent, ‘Mr. World Africa’. It seems a heavy tag to carry, but it is undoubtedly one he has earned, and one he would not mind in the least.
Kevin Owiti entered the contest to prove that a man with beauty can have purpose too. He certainly has, to himself, to the world, and to the droves of inspired fans waiting to receive him.
