The Microsoft obtained permission for the registration of the patent of a technology which will create a robot capable of simulating the personality of a real person, including those who have died. From then on, the tool will allow the simulation of a conversation with reactions similar to those of the individual in question.
According to information obtained from the Protocol website, intellectual property was registered by the technology giant in 2017, using the following sentence as a description of the patent: “creating a chat bot for a specific person” .
To work, the technology needs the user to authorize the capture of their personal data, including text and voice messages, postings on social networks and photos. With this information captured by a terminal, the machine will be able to adapt to the person’s personality, becoming more and more reliable depending on the amount of data stored.
According to the technological patent, the possibility of starting a conversation via chatbot with an already deceased person is part of the universe of existing alternatives for using the tool. In practice, however, the idea is to automate day-to-day routines, such as sending messages, answering emails, checking social networks, ordering food, among many other resources.
It should be remembered that the registration of the patent does not necessarily indicate that the technology will come to the market to be commercialized. Generally, companies use these tools for purely scientific purposes, or even for the improvement or development of secondary products.
