South African gospel group Omega Circle has released a heartfelt new EP, “Worship Songs I Could Have Sang With My Mother,” a deeply personal project that blends worship, memory, and faith into a touching musical journey.
The EP was inspired by the songwriter’s reflections on losing his mother, an experience that profoundly shaped his life. “Losing a mother is perhaps one of the hardest things a person can go through,” he explains. “It shakes your foundation and makes you question the world around you. Yet in that emptiness, I found myself turning to God, trusting Him to guide me through.”
Trust is the central theme of the EP, captured in the phrase “Ndithembe kuwe,” meaning “I trust in You.” These words thread through the project, creating a spiritual backbone that runs across all the songs.
The idea for the EP arrived unexpectedly. One February morning, feeling uninspired, the songwriter realized that this year marked 20 years since his mother’s passing. That realization sparked a wave of creativity, leading him to write the songs he imagines he and his mother would have sung together — perhaps even shared with the grandchildren she never met.

The songs came in quiet moments of reflection and bursts of inspiration throughout the day. Every track was written specifically for this EP, with the exception of a reimagined version of Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika, which serves as the opening track, setting a tone of reverence and worship.
“This EP is an ode to the woman who taught me how to love myself and how to love God,” Omega Circle shares. “Worship music becomes a bridge, connecting us to memories and love we can no longer physically experience.”
“Worship Songs I Could Have Sang With My Mother” invites listeners to a reflective and healing worship experience, transforming grief into praise and remembrance into music.
The EP is now available on all major streaming platforms:
