Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya and his employee, Harriet Njenga, have addressed circulating rumours suggesting a romantic relationship between them. The speculation emerged after content creator Kimbikimbi claimed in a street interview that the two were secretly dating following a public sighting at Kasarani Stadium.
During the interview, Kimbikimbi stated, “Harriet is Salasya’s property. Harriet is the reason why Salasya is single. I’m not lying.” The comment quickly gained attention on social media, prompting both Salasya and Harriet to respond.
Salasya dismissed the allegations, describing his relationship with Harriet as strictly professional. He likened their connection to that of a brother and sister, stating on social media, “Wewe @kimbikimbi unafaa kujua dem mukizoana na yeye …. she becomes like your sister. Uko na ngombe ngapi nikuunganishie Harriet Njenga, she just works for me and nothing more.”
Harriet Njenga also reacted, warning content creators against spreading false stories for attention. She addressed Kimbikimbi directly, saying, “Kimbikimbi, you are my good friend but I won’t allow this nonsense that you are spreading 😏, not only you but any other media channel that is tolerating this nonsense just to get views. Keep my boss’s name and me out of your mouth.” She added that legal action would be considered if the rumours persisted.
Netizens reacted with mixed opinions. Some found humour in Kimbikimbi’s claims, while others expressed support for Salasya and Harriet’s professionalism. This is not the first time Salasya has been in the public eye over personal claims. Previously, Kenyan women accused the youthful legislator of being stingy after he allegedly paid only KSh 500 for certain services, prompting him to request the return of the amount if it was considered small.
