On Thursday night, a school teacher was shot dead by an Administration Police officer from Navakholo Police Station in Kakamega county.
The incident which happened on 14th March 2019, claimed the life of Christine Mango of Navakholo Secondary School.
Western regional police boss Rashid Yakub confirmed the bizarre murder adding that they had recovered the firearm from the officer Patrick Nyapara
“The police officer is at large but we are pursuing him,” he said.
After committing the murder, the suspect is said to have been fled off prompting a manhunt from his fellow officers
“We managed to recover the Ceska pistol he used to commit the murder but we are yet to arrest him. We request anyone with information about his whereabouts to volunteer to the police,” Mr Yakubu said.
The incident sparked riots which emerged from students, teachers and residents around Navokholo Secondary School.
“There was very high tension at Navakholo market after news broke out about the killing of the teacher but police managed to contain the situation,” added Mr Yakubu.
