Comedian and content creator Terence Creative has urged fellow artists to prioritize saving and long-term planning. Drawing from his extensive experience in the entertainment industry, he highlighted that fame has a limited shelf life and warned that financial mismanagement can lead to a rapid fall from grace.
Terence took to Facebook to share his insights, stressing that artists often face starkly different treatment during their peak compared to when their fame fades. He encouraged them to invest in their future selves to ensure stability beyond their celebrity years.
He advised artists to buy land and build homes for their families, establish side hustles to generate sustainable income, and take insurance policies to secure their health and the education of their children. He also emphasized the importance of saving for emergencies and creating investment plans that can generate dividends.
“Get land, build for your family, look for a side hustle, save, have insurance for health and education for your kids, and also save to have an emergency fund. Think of your retirement now while you’re making cash,” Terence stated.
The content creator explained that his advice comes from years of observing the creative industry. He worked behind the scenes for over seven years, witnessing how careers can flourish and decline. He stressed the need to learn from past generations to secure a lasting and sustainable presence in the industry.
“This career of ours has a shelf life. Learn from those who were here before us. Long live the industry. Ask me how I know this; I worked behind the scenes for over seven years. I have seen it all,” he concluded.
Terence Creative’s message serves as a timely reminder for Kenyan artists to plan for the future, balance short-term success with long-term stability, and ensure financial security beyond the spotlight.
