Kenya’s journalism code of conduct is a very petite book with very few writings, but of great value to any journalist practicing news gathering and publication.

Contents
1.Ann Kiguta2.Julie Gichuru3.Jeff Koinange4.Joe Ageyo5.Trevoh Ombija6.Janet Mbugua7.Ciku Muiruri8.Boniface Mwangi9.Linus Kaikai10.Barack Muluka

The wallet size book, is basically like the 10 commandments to Christians.

Among the core values clearly stated out in the code, accountability, fairness and objectivity, ethics and public interest.

For this article, we look at some of the top journalists who are battling with double standards in the media houses as well as trying to please someone away from the public interest.

1.Ann Kiguta

Anne Kiguta, Citizen TV’s sassy anchor should be worry of her position with personal interests. She is dating President Uhuru Kenyatta’s nephew and personal advisor Jomo Gecaga.

It will be very bothering for Anne to report on negative news touching the head of state or even his personal advisor who turns out to be her

2.Julie Gichuru

Julie Gichuru who is the CEO at Arise Media and former Citizen TV anchor is married to Gichuru political family which has got close ties with the government.

Besides, Julie launched her own betting site, something that triggered backlash over her mentoring programs

3.Jeff Koinange

Just like Julie, Citizen TV’s anchor Jeff Koinange is cousin to Uhuru Kenyatta, something that has led to his criticism alongside his career.

Politicians like Miguna Miguna once claimed that Jeff had taken stands during 2017 elections in order to support Uhuru Kenyatta

4.Joe Ageyo

The latest Citizen TV anchor Ageyo came from political campaign in 2017 before he made a comeback onto our screens.

Many view Ageyo more of a politician now than before.

Reporting from political scenes could be a bothering issue to him today than before

5.Trevoh Ombija

NTV’s candid reader and news presenter Trevoh has also his hands tied with vested interests in politics.

It is not easy for Trevoh to claim his objectivity from politics

6.Janet Mbugua

Janet Mbugua, even though now enjoying media break, is married to Eddie Ndichu, Ndichu is a well-connected businessman behind the scenes of politics.

Eddie Ndichu is said to have very close ties with some of the big politics in Nairobi

7.Ciku Muiruri

Capital FM presenter and trend host guest Ciku is a sister to Tony Gachoka, a politicians and an activist. Ciku has been avoiding to talk about windy politicians because his own brother falls within then same category.

8.Boniface Mwangi

Bonfice Mwangi who writes for Nairobi News is no doubt a politicized mind. And being a politician no doubt the award winning photographer’s mind has never been objective but rather representing his own vested interests

9.Linus Kaikai

New Citizen TV employee from NTV media was once a gate-keeping gateway for politicians and big business men who had different vested interests.

It is thought tht he would kill stories in order to serve vested wishes from his alliances

10.Barack Muluka

Barack Muluka, a communication expert, has worked for ODM and Daily Nation for a couple of past years.

Under which, his journalistic pieces have been question on grounds of objectivity.
