There are sites where many content is placed illegally. These are the so-called torrents that also, many times, use the protocol that Napster uses to share music. The trick is that the content is not necessarily on a server, but the torrent contains in which sites are the files and the system is responsible for making the necessary connections for users to download the contents
It is also a fact that millions of people connect to the torrents to become the contents of their interest, whether pirated or not. What interests them is to have those digital files. If these have copyright then bad luck for the latter. And here I will say something that many times the companies affected by this piracy do not clarify well: it is not that these companies that produce content lose money. No, it is not. They stop winning, very different thing. And of course, the torrents sites inhibit content creators many times, because there is not enough protection and their works are distributed free of charge.
Now – interestingly – it is announced that ExtraTorrent, a popular site of torrents, is terminated, permanently goes out. The abrupt decision was made a few days ago in a message from the official website. This means that after KickassTorrents and Torrentz.eu are finally shut down, the torrent community must say goodbye to another popular and important site.
Users who now enter the official page are with a short but clear message, indicating that the site has been closed definitively, with all the mirrors of the system. And they warn that any site that calls itself this way is now false. All files and links will be permanently deleted. One of the ExtraTorrent operators, SaM, confirmed that they had reached the end of the road: “It’s time to say goodbye,” he said without elaborating.
With this site closed, the BitTorrent community has lost one of its most important players. ExtraTorrent was founded in 2006 when there were torrents like TorrentSpy and Mininova, who dominated the scenario at the time. ExtraTorrent pledged to become an audience for itself. Thus, the site grew and surpassed its predecessors with millions of visits daily. In fact, it became the second Torrent site only surpassed by that of Pirate Bay.
Obviously all these sites are always called into question and many companies ask to be discharged or blocked access, as they ultimately affect many industries. However, it is not known why Closed ExtraTorrent and if it had to see any legal action against it, which they say, it probably was. Before ExtraTorrent they closed: KickassTorrents, Torrentz.eu, TorrentHound and What.cd.
