‘Friendly Fire’ Between Police And KDF Costs 2 Lives Of Soldiers

Two KDF (Kenya Defense Forces) army men lost their lives after a confusion shootout with AP police that occurred at Sheikh Barrow in Mandera County.

Border Patrol Unit in Kitui County, Mr Nguyo Wambua said that the two soldiers were killed by officers attached to this unit in Kitui. The local administration stated that it was ‘friendly fire’ exchange.

The police shot and injured the two soldiers after they were mistaken to be armed bandits by the army men

“We cannot understand how the KDF officers mistook our team for armed bandits because they were in a known camp complete with government vehicles which could be identified,” he said.
